Let's tour some Wild Ones members’ home gardens! Come explore, get inspired, and exchange ideas about our shared passion, landscaping with native plants.
We will kick off the tour at 9 a.m. in Iowa City NE at the woodland species nursery operation of Troutleaf Native Plants, then visit three chapter members’ home gardens including:
• Melissa’s ongoing project to replace grass, daylilies, hostas and invasives with prairie patches.
• Eric’s demonstration of the diversity that’s possible in a small space, including a prairie garden and many shade-tolerant species.
• Ryan’s 1/4 acre city lot with full sun prairie, deep shade woodland, and a "Little Free Native Plant Nursery" area.
All yards will be shared “as is” with minimal preparation.
Carpooling: Parking space is limited at some tour stops, so we will follow up with carpool options leaving from Cedar Rapids and Iowa City.
For those that have RSVP'd, we will email tour information including the meeting point and carpooling in the days leading up to the event.
