The Wild Ones Cedar Rapids Iowa City chapter has a large seed bank of native plant species which we would love to share!

This free event offers both experienced and new gardeners a chance to add more native plants to their yards and create habitat for native birds, bees, and butterflies — without spending money on seeds and plants.

Fall is the ideal season to begin planning which seeds to start during the colder months, so they can be ready to plant when spring arrives.

If you're new to gardening with native plants, experienced gardeners will be here to answer questions and help you get started.

We also welcome donations if you have native seeds to offer.

We are especially seeking the seeds of native milkweeds, asters, smaller goldenrods, and any other species which someone who is new to native gardening could plant. Some local libraries have also requested milkweed seeds for educational events with kids, so we will be donating to their seed banks.

(Current chapter members are invited to stay for our annual meeting, 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.)
